Judge John Rochester on ACYPL trip to Russia
American Council of Young Political Leaders
In 1990, Judge John Rochester was selected to serve on the American Council of Young Political Leaders Bipartisan Exchange to the Soviet Union. He represented the United States on this historic trip only two weeks before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Judge Rochester says of the experience, "We met with government officials for three weeks and no one seemed to anticipate the collapse. The fall of the Soviet Union, so unexpectedly and so soon after I visited, has been a constant reminder of how quickly everything can change." Judge Rochester and other former ACYPL members later reciprocated in hosting a delegation from Russia.
